Care and Protection Legal Advice Service
We provide advice and casework assistance to parents who are at risk of having their child or children taken into care by the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS).
We determine all applications for our services in accordance with our policy and guidelines. Western Sydney residents are eligible to apply for assistance from our Centre. If you are outside our service area we will refer you to the services closest to where you live. There are 22 CLCs which have been funded to provide this service.
If assessed as suitable for assistance we will offer you an appointment within 7 working days.
We can provide advice on:
- Parent Responsibility Contracts
- Negotiating Parent Responsibility Contracts with FACS
- Breaches of Parent Responsibility Contracts
- Parent Capacity Orders, prior to parents being referred to Legal Aid for further assistance
- Disputes about contact (after final orders have been made)
